Nick Cave nasceu na Austrália em 1957. Mudou-se para Londres com a sua banda, os The Birthday Party, em 1980. Quatro anos mais tarde formou The Bad Seeds, com os quais gravou quinze álbuns de estúdio. Em 1999 ele foi o curador do anual Meltdown Festival em London's South Bank Centre.

As suas novelas And The Ass Saw The Angel (1990) e The Death of Bunny Munro (2009) foram best-sellers internacionais. O seu filme The Proposition obteve uma larga aclamação crítica em 2005, enquanto a sua banda Grinderman editou dois álbuns. Nick Cave vive na Costa Sul da Inglaterra.
